"mightyfine.net" By: The Cache Valley Drifters "mightyfine.net" is comprised of material drawn
from a variety of sources which is consistent with the group's previous five releases,
covering a span of 26 years. Also recognizable is the careful selection of tunes provided by friends of the group, including the late Kate Wolf, as well as Paul Kamm and former "Santa Barbarian", Don Lange. Band member Mike Mullins' "Rhode Island Bride", inspired by a segment of the Ken Burns' Civil War Documentary, is a moving saga depicting what remains of a young family and the effects of having a lost husband and father to the ravages of the conflict The most significant departure , aside from the instrumentation, is the
band's "kindler/gentler " approach to the song selection this time around. While
previous releases contain plenty of nitro-fueled-fretburning songs and instrumental, this
album is purposely toned down, giving the listener plenty of space to audibly ingest the
stories and the melodies. Dennis Caplinger adds his fiddle prominently throughout the record and the banjo is used sparingly. Caplinger also provides dobro on Lange's "Rounders" and guest Michael Gutin's accordion provides a wonderful pad on the same tune. The trademark vocal harmonies remain a focal point, embellished as always with just the right amount of instrumental fills and rhythmic accentuation. This is a must CD for any collection! $13.75 Down Load RealPlayer G2 to hear sample cuts. Click on the underlined song titles to hear the cuts. Rings
