"Quicksand"

No I am not trying to steal Betty Jane's thunder, but I promised, Mike Nadolson, of Silverado, that I would listen to his CD called "Quicksand", and tell the world what I think of it. bggazzete.jpg (16121 bytes)Now, I may be just a little biased because I did get to meet Mike at the Colorado River Music Festival and because I am a strong supporter of the classic bluegrass sound. This CD has it all! The first cut is a Wayne Taylor composition, "Smokey Mountain Home". Some of you may recognize the composer as the lead singer/guitar player for the wonderful US Navy Bluegrass Band, Country Current.

There is some of the finest musicianship on the CD that I have ever heard. Mike's lead guitar and vocals are outstanding. For those of you who have never had the chance to meet Mike, he is a champion flatpicker and has won contests all over the place. He's another one of those good guys who's never lost his bluegrass roots.

Dave Dias, who plays dobro with the band, is totally awesome. He has that reckless wonderful feel for the dobro and he can make that instrument zing.

Other artists on this recording are Dennis Caplinger, John Moore, Kenny Blackwell, Walden Dahl, David Richardson, Dean Knight and Bob Applebaum. They are all very talented guys and watching them on stage you know they love what they do.-Libby Benfield
