"Dobro Player's Tune of the Week" review on "Quicksand"
Reprinted from the August 1998 Web Page Review **** "Quicksand" by Mike Nadolson and many other fine musicians: This release came as a very nice surprise to me. "Quicksand" is an exceptional Dobro instrumental composed and played by David Dias on the release. Mike Nadolson, who does a fine job singing lead on the release, sent me a copy of it to preview. I was quite impressed with the instrumentalists on the release. Dennis Caplinger does superior work on the banjo and fiddle. His banjo playing is at one moment reminiscent of Scruggs, the next Bela Fleck, and the next Alan Munde. His fiddle performance is just about as impressive. David Dias, who authored the tune, "Quicksand", is a comparably outstanding musician. The influence of Mike Auldridge and Josh Graves can be heard, but David's own style shines through as well. If you like great bluegrass guitar and mandolin playing, Mike Nadolson and John Moore don't let you down, either. The result is an exceptionally fine instrumental performance of originality and style with all instrumentalists rising to the occasion.
