More Than Words

Sheri Lee.. Born in
Los Angeles California, Sheri knew early on that Country and
Bluegrass Music was going to become a big part of her life.
With the influences of her mother's music Sheri
was exposed to many types and styles of music. She started playing the her Dad's flat-top
guitar at the age ten and started singing harmony with her Mom and Dad. It all seemed to
come naturally to her and she has been singing ever since.
At the age of 25, Sheri found she could
write songs that people really enjoyed. Sheri has been writing songs over
the last ten years and decided it was time to record them. She had recently won a
song writing contest at the Julian Bluegrass Festival
and won some recording time at a local studio. Here she was introduced to a local
band called Silverado. This started the journey to begin "More
Than Words". With an offer from producer David Richardson she collaborated with Silverado, Sean and Sara
Watkins, Dean Knight, David Dias and Mike Nadolson
to do this project.
With the support of her husband Bob Erdtsieck
and her three kids, Jennifer, Bobby and Mikie
she has made this great recording which features seven of her original compositions.
Thoughts and insight on Sheri from her sister, Rhonda..
Sheri has been singing since she was a little girl. I can
remember every day when Dad would get home from work, the first thing he would do is pick
up his guitar and gather every one to sing back up and harmony with him. Sheri
always had a sense for harmony. Even at the age of eight, which is about as far back as I
can remember her, It was like listening to an angel singing. She was always dancing and
singing and would make the rest of us put on little plays that she would coordinate. She
would point out to each of us which singing part we would have, and teach us how to sing
in perfect harmony. And if it wasn't perfect she would definitely let us know about it.
She always amazed me on how she could pick out just the right keys and tones and she still
amazes me with what she comes up with. I can also remember whenever we would go somewhere
together for a drive, she would have the radio blaring and would harmonize to anything
that was playing. If there wasn't a written score for harmony, she would create one. It
was really neat to listen to her do that. She would even go as far as to put extra
harmonies in with the Beach Boys which in it's self is a challenge. If
they could have only heard what she could do to their songs. Sheri's
heart has always been for the bluegrass style of music, but her diversities are pretty
incredible. From Bluegrass to Country to Rock and Roll, she has it covered. Her writing
abilities I personally would say started coming out when she was about twenty or so. That
really took off. She has a way of digging down deep into her soul and
pulling out the most incredible feelings and moving words and magically putting it all
together sometimes simultaneously. Like another Mozart. I've watched Sheri
closely throughout the years and have seen all of the changes and progressions she has
gone through. She practices her guitar till her fingers go numb and her voice, well that
just comes naturally. Being biased, I think she is one of most talented musicians I have
ever known. Being unbiased, I know she is. God gives many gifts. He gave Sheri
the gift of music.
